Bio

Dr Laura Carter grew up in Sydney where she completed a Science degree with honours at University of Sydney with a focus on human biology, physiology and biochemistry. She then undertook further years of post-graduate study into the science of muscle proteins. At this point, Laura’s work pivoted, with a move to Queensland to complete her medical degree at University of Queensland. She explored the state, moving locations over 10 times in 10 years! It was here that Laura realised first-hand, the advantages of the rural lifestyle. It was a tree-change that finally brought Laura to Mansfield, Victoria, where she enjoys the ever changing environment that the four seasons bring.

Whilst in North East Victoria, Laura undertook anaesthesia training and she enjoys her role in the perioperative care of surgical patients, with a greater appreciation of pain and its management.

Laura has an interest in education utilising simulation training, as well as an interest in preventative medicine. She has undertaken further training with the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) and the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM) and aims to help people remain well.

Laura is a mother of 2 daughters and is passionate about gender equity. She wants to empower her girls and other women to be comfortable in their own skin. Laura enjoys eating well, spending time in nature with her family getting fresh air and sunshine, and challenges herself with Pilates, mountain biking, snow skiing and hiking.
