Billing

Fees, Medicare and Accounts

Mansfield Medical Clinic is a private billing practice. In recognition of the increased costs and complexity of delivering quality healthcare in a rural community, consultations are not routinely bulk billed to Medicare Australia.

Individual practitioners may choose to bulk bill or reduce their fees in certain circumstances. This is at the discretion of your treating practitioner and you may be asked to sign or consent to an Assignment of Benefit at that time. Further information about our private billing policy is provided at the end of this section.

Fees are payable at the time of your consultation. Using our direct connection to Medicare through HICAPS Claims Online, we can process your Medicare claim on the day of your appointment, with your rebate generally deposited into your nominated bank account within 48 hours.

If your account is not paid on the day, a $10.00 administration fee will be charged. We offer discounted consultation fees for Pensioner Concession Card and Health Care Card holders. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, please discuss this with your doctor during your consultation. Your health and access to care remain our priority.

The fee schedule below is provided as a guide only. The cost of your consultation will depend on the services provided, any consumables used, and the applicable Medicare item numbers. Medicare rebates are reviewed periodically and may change, so the rebate amounts below are indicative.

Consultation fees vary according to the length and complexity of your appointment. As a guide, a standard consultation is generally suitable for a single medical issue or condition, while more complex concerns or multiple issues will require a longer appointment.

Additional fees may apply for procedures and investigations, such as ECGs and other in-clinic tests. Fees for allied health services, remedial massage and gym programs are available on request.

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. We understand that unexpected things happen and are happy to reschedule your appointment to another suitable day or time.

Script Clinics (depending on the type of prescription required and whether you have been seen recently) are privately billed at $36.00 for a face-to-face consultation, with a current Medicare rebate of $20.55. Health Care Card holders and Pensioner Concession Card holders are bulk billed for this service where eligible.

Please note that we do not accept payment by American Express.

Why we cannot bulk bill everyone

From 1 November 2025, the Government’s new bulk billing incentive rewards short, rushed consults.  We believe your health deserves time and quality, not quick medicine.

X Bulk billing does not cover the real cost of care

X Medicare will pay more for very short visits

X This pushes doctors to rush patients through

We will remain private billing so we can:

* Give you the time you deserve

* Provide safe, thorough care

* Stay sustainable for the future

We want to:

* Offer continuity of care from GPs, Nurses and Allied Health professionals who know you

* Remain locally owned, a business employing locals who live in and love our community

The Medicare rebate does not cover the true cost of providing quality medical care. We encourage you to talk to your local Federal Member if you find that the Medicare rebate does not meet your needs.
